I kinda like that, Noble. Come to think of it, I haven't played a game with a drawn knife since counter-strike, but I really wouldn't mind it I don't think. As long as it wasn't an insta draw thing, because then we might see the return of people who just run around with knives to move faster.

OHH! i just thought of something about the knifing. When you are knifing it would be cool if you still had your weapon in one hand and taking out your knife with the other more realistic

.....And if you need to use your rifle in a hurry, You fire with one arm, making it really inaccurate!
I'm not kidding. I think that'd be cool. lol

They have confirmed that there will be 4 classes, I'm assuming they will be rather similar to how they are now.

Not sure, this is not a Bad company part of the battlefield series, but a sequel on the Battlefield 2

Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay
In Game Informers big spread on BF3 last month, one of primary developers (I forget his official title) for DICE did confirm that they think 4 classes is the 'sweet spot' for the Battlefield games. So I would bank on having 4 classes again.
He did however say that tracer guns will not be included. He said that was strictly a Bad Company thing. So that will def have a big effect on how aircraft and tanks are countered.

Could be that you'll be able to 'lock-on' w/o the need for tracers?....

Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay
There have been very few times where I've been literally awestruck seeing a game for the first time, but in this bit, where the Marines are running across the street in slow motion? That was unlike anything I had ever seen. Absolutely unbelievable. At this point, this game could be exactly on par in quality and balance with BC2, and be the best shooter ever.

Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay
DICE has released their 'new' 12 minute long trailer of the Fault Line trailer. To be honest, I'm a little pissed off, it's basically the last 3 episodes stitched together, with maybe 2-3 minutes of extra footage added in. Except that the extra footage is just stuff that they cut together from the old trailers. Anyways, here it is, and enjoy.

Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay
I'm curious, how much do these guys listen to feedback when designing their games?
I'd like to see some things that would further improve the points system rewards for teamwork. For instance, right now you can still be a good support player but not get any points simply because you don't kill or revive or repair or motion.
What about things like smoke? Ever have trouble getting your team to the M-Comm, then you sit back and blanket the whole area with smoke, and presto, your team is arming like crazy all of a sudden. Obviously the smoke made the difference, but the smoker doesn't get any points whilst everybody else does.
I think if you smoke an M-Comm, and someone else arms it within the duration of the smoke, you should get some team-play/objective points for it (for Attackers). Same with disarming (for Defenders).
Or how about the Blackhawk and Hind pilot? Sure you get some 'assists' for your gunner(s), but it can't be that hard for the computer to track whether the person who just armed it came out of a heli within say, 30 seconds earlier - that pilot should get some 'tactical-air-insertion' points or something, as a reward for braving going further in than just the usual circle-strafing business. Same could go for the driver of a Humvee or some such.

Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay
That's a good point, Ria. I'd really like to see the support point system move in that direction. Whether or not they do is yet to be seen, but if anybody will do it, it'll be DICE.
And they listen to the community as much as they can. DICE actually has a really good community manager, who goes by Zh1nt0. You can google him. He's all over the place.
