Addiction levels with CoH?

Hi guys,

As many of you probably already know I'm off to university in a few days, without my 360. I'm thinking about getting a game I can play on my laptop when I have some down time (no idea how much down time I'll have) and I'm considering CoH. Is it the kind of game that gets you hooked in and entire nights vanish? Or is more of a play a few rounds and turn it off kind of game? I don't want to get addicted.

its a fun little rts, cant really lose nights to it though.

Its sort of both. its a game that you can logg on and do a couple og games, but the matches can last from everything between 30 min to 1h 30 min. So depending on how many games you play it can be rather time consuming

But then again you rarely play very many games in a row. You get too exhausted after a while :p

If you want to see some gameplay, I suggest you check this replay. It's shoutcasted and uploaded in a high quality flash video player, so you don't need the game installed to watch the replay. I actually watch shoutcasts quite a lot, and the one I linked is my favourite. It's the most 'liked' replay on GameReplays as it is the finals game between two of the best CoH players out there.

If your kicking ass you'll want to keep going, if your receiving it though... Sometimes it can be found for cheap, every now and then Steam holds a sale on it and you could get the game and both expansions for $12 US total. A sale like that is hard to resist.

CoH + the OF expansion costs like $19 without a sale anyways, so it's great value for the money. In the beginning you just need to be prepared for losing frequently, it's part of the losing process. And when you are receiving it, as you will in the beginning, you won't bother to play all day every time you boot up the game anyways.

Be ready to upload tons of patches. I am up to 1.7. I am having trouble finding 'non torrent' free websites to upload 1.7-->2.1.

So far- this game rocks! I have been concentrating on the campaign to get the feel as to how to move units...etc.

If you buy/bought the Company of Heroes Gold Edition (CoH vanilla + Opposing Fronts + Tales of Valor, both the expansion packs) then you only need to install patches 2.500 and out.
