Joining CSM
In DFA, CSM stands for Competitive Squad Member and means just as it sounds, these guys play to win. CSM is for full members of DFA who are seeking something more challenging, a thirst for a real opponent, maybe you are seeking more controlled tactical environments, some want to be part of an even closer, more tight-knit group within DFA itself. CSM squads regularly get together for in-squad practice sessions which might be a night of practicing how to best use vehicles, going head to head against other CSM squads in a skirmish, or participating with other squads in a full scale clan on clan battle.
If this sounds appealing to you sign up to the CSM roster roster here. Upon signing to CSM you will be added to the CSM usergroup and given permission to post in the clan matches and squad subforums. You will initially be added to the mercenaries squad until joining a regular squad. Joining a squad isn't exactly a straightforward process, it takes time. You can't simply peruse the groups and request to to join the unit you think is the coolest. The first, most important factor you should consider when seeking a good match in a squad is whether or not you frequently play with them. A matching schedule is the cornerstone of a solid squad; the system simply doesn't work otherwise. Next, consider the squad's personality. Every squad is different, some emphasize specific tactics and some are about raw skills. Other's are a buddy unit who enjoy casual insults, obscure references, and can read each others freakin' minds. Each is really more of a combination thereof, but like a wizard finding his wand, once you've found your real match, sparks fly, magic happens, and bad guys get hurt.
Very Important
Signing up for CSM can't be a passing fancy, you MUST remain active on these forums. It is a requirement to check these forums regularly, especially the "Clan Matches" and your individual squads sub-forum. You MUST leave replies to match topics whether you can attend or not attend, maybes aren't good enough. Match organizers, be they admins or squad leaders absolutely rely on attendees being reliable. If you've replied that you will be there, do your complete best to be there. If at the last minute something important does come up, leave a new reply informing that you cannot attend. Nothing is more disappointing to have a 12v12 match scheduled for over a month and less than half of the confirmed attendants actually show up. That's not cool, don't be one of those guys.
If you aren't active on these forums, and are an unreliable attendee you won't be a CSM member for very long.
